THe Little Eggs

It is known in my office that the pigeons like to rest at the window of my room behind the air-con condenser.

A few months back, when my colleague and I discovered that there was a little bird nest there, we quickly remove it. I will very much like to have the pigeons making home by the window. But due to hygiene propose, we have to make sure that it doesn't happen.

A few months past by. Last couple of weeks, I started hearing sounds made by the pigeons again. Every time, I will just scare them off by opening the binders. But I know for a fact that they had started to build a nest. It didn't occur to me that the nest would not be removed.

Being busy with my gig performances, I did not report to my office for the past few days. This morning when I reached the office, I saw that there was a small little pigeon egg. Having the egg there, we realised that it was too late for us to remove the nest. It would have been too cruel.

Before lunch time, I peeped out again. I saw two pigeons on top of each other on the nest. After lunch, there was the 2nd egg. 2 eggs waiting to be hatched. I wonder if there will be more eggs to come.

As we are looking for a new and smaller office space, I doubt that I will get to see them hatch. I hope that the new tenant will at least allow the little one to learn flying and fending for themselves before removing the nest.

I have a dove-couple with eggs just outside my kitchen window. It's such a joy to wake up by their cocoing.
